Saturday (08/22) was a great day!

The JPW football team started off the day against the Wild Rose JPW Bulldogs and showed tremendous dedication and perseverance while facing a tough loss. For most of the JPW team, this was their first real taste of competition and they will no doubt be hungry for a win next week against Iola!

The PW football team powered through the game to a resounding 18-0 win against the Wild Rose PW Bulldogs! The Quad City defense was on fire with two interceptions, and three fumble recoveries! The best part of the PW game was not the win, but the sportsmanship our players showed...They were helping their opponents up, giving them encouragement, and not celebrating on the field after touchdowns! They are truly committed to H.I.T. (Hustle, Integrity, Teamwork)!

Our cheerleaders did an outstanding job forming a tunnel for the players to run through during the pre-game introductions! They were having a lot of fun keeping the crowd motivated with their loud and proud cheering and stunts!

The day was capped off by a SUPER FUN family movie night at the high school auditorium. We had a BIG turn out and everyone seemed to enjoy watching When the Game Stands Tall while munching on some delicious popcorn. We missed everyone that couldn't attend this family-building event and sincerely hope to see you at the next one!

We have a big week of preparation ahead of us. The JPW are on the road and will be playing Iola (at Iola) at 1 p.m. The PW are also on the road and will be playing Berlin (at Berlin) at 1:30 p.m.

Our school district is holding a district-wide OPEN HOUSE on WEDNESDAY from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The kiddos will meet their teachers, bring in their school supplies, see their new classrooms, and start worrying more about going to school again. So, to help them out, we will be having a FUN practice on Wednesday with HELMETS ONLY. I expect that we will have some late-comers, so practice will officially start at 5:30 p.m. (but we will have coaches there at 5 p.m.). If you get to the practice field at 5 p.m., a coach will be there to play catch, etc. with everyone until 5:30 p.m. Remember that the kids will be a little stressed out and will need some laughter and physical exertion to help them deal with the back-to-school jitters. We will be keeping it light!

Thank you for your support of the Quad City Thunder Football & Cheerleading program! GO THUNDER!
